Mt Wells Gold Project:
- Mt Wells project is located approximately 140km southeast of Darwin in Northern Territory.
- The project is located in the western section of the central domain of the Proterozoic Pine Creek Orogen, a major gold and uranium province in the Northern Territory, with a known gold endowment of approximately 11 Moz Au.
- EL 27567 represents a greenfields exploration play for principally gold-base metal deposits and potentially uranium of varying genetic styles. Within the Pine Creek district, gold occurs in linear belts which are spatially related to anticlinal crests, strike-slip shear zones and duplex thrusts. The gold found in the Pine Creek Shear occurs as quartz-sulphide veining.
- Gold in the Spring Hill mine, to the south of Mt Wells, occurs mainly in quartz veins concentrated in fracture zones and the axial zones of anticlinal fold structures. The review outlined a structural corridor approximately 5km in strike length on the western portion of the tenement along with parallel anticlinal structures. These structural features along with the favourable geological lithologies represent excellent gold targets as they demonstrate the classic gold depositional environment which hosts large gold deposits within the Pine Creek Geosyncline.
